Puerto Rico |
RULES SYSTEM: Standard rules
BRIEF SYNOPSIS: Each player runs a business which
involves growing a variety of crops on a plantation.
Crops can be stored and then later sold for money at
certain times in the game. Crops can also be loaded on
ships (as exports) in exchange for victory points. There
is also a large assortment of buildings which can be
purchased for money. Each building gives the purchaser a
certain advantage - in addition to being worth victory
points at the end of the game. As just one example,
warehouses can be purchased to help store more goods
since initially there is a strict limit on how many
goods you can store when a certain role card is
selected. The game is driven by each player selecting
one role card on their turn. The role cards are
Governor, Trader, Captain, Mayor, Settler, Craftsman,
Builder, and Prospector.

BRIEF
SYNOPSIS: GMT's highly popular block game of war set
during the period of the Roman empire. The game is a
little similar to Memoir 44, in that each player has a
hand of 4 to 6 cards that give movement/attack options.
However, there is a greater variety of units and a
little more strategy involved than in Memoir 44. An
example of units are light and medium cavalry, heavy
chariots, bowmen, sling infantry, auxilia (armed with
javelins that can be thrown from range) and 3 types of
infantry (light, medium, heavy) and in some scenarios,
war elephants.

Kingsburg |
RULES
SYSTEM: Standard
BRIEF SYNOPSIS: Each player represents a Baron
who the king has put in charge of developing frontier
lands of the kingdom. Each season every player rolls 3
dice of the same color as their other tokens. The dice
are then used to influence advisors in the king's court.
Each advisor has an influence number ranging from 1 to
18 - the higher the advisor, the better resources you
receive. Resources are used to construct buildings that
provide victory points and nearly always provide certain
advantages. Resources can also be used to buy soldiers
because every winter season, the frontier lands of the
kingdom get attacked and each player fights separately
against the attackers.

armada of some long-forgotten war and you are the only

BRIEF
SYNOPSIS: This game plays similarly to Puerto Rico
(PR) but with some added twists. Much like PR, there are
various role cards that players choose from each turn.
When a role card is selected by a player, all players
perform the same function listed on the card. Just like
PR, each role card has an additional special ability
which applies only to the player who selects that card.
One big difference from PR is that players can build 3
types of spaceships to attack other players worlds and
defend their own planets. Planets can be colonized or
stolen by either military conquest or diplomatically by
the placement of influence tokens. The various role
cards are Explorer, Merchant, Steward, Engineer,
Warlord, and Regent.

Midnight Run |
RULES
SYSTEM: Victory at Sea Main Rulebook & Order of
Battle
BRIEF SYNOPSIS: The Second World War saw naval
warfare evolve from the clash of mighty dreadnoughts,
which had been the preoccupation of navies for half a
century, to a conflict dominated by the aircraft carrier
and submarine.
The Battle of the Atlantic saw German U-boats attempt to
strangle the economy of the United Kingdom, with fast
commerce raiders such as the pocket battleships and the
mighty Bismarck attempting to slip into the Atlantic to
wreak devastation upon the allied convoys.
In the Mediterranean the Italian and British fleets
squared off as each side attempted to settle the fate of
Egypt and North Africa, as both sides attempted to
strangle the other’s supply routes.
In the east mighty carrier fleets clashed as the
Imperial Japanese Navy tried to hold on to the rapid
conquests of 1942, whilst all the while American
submariners strove to paralyze Japan’s industrial might
via attacks on her merchant fleet. It was here that
mighty battleships clashed in ferocious night battles
amongst the Pacific islands.
Victory at Sea brings these conflicts to life allowing
budding admirals to re-fight the epic battles of this
conflict, or to create their own fleets based upon the
ships of the day and fight entire campaigns. Over
seventy different ship classes are detailed, allowing a
wide array of different battles to be fought with
eighteen scenarios included.
Based upon the award winning A Call to Arms games
system, Victory at Sea is a fast flowing game that will
allow novices and veteran gamers alike to enjoy
recreating the epic struggles between the mighty fleets
of the era.
Can U.S. Patrol Boat's (PT Boat's) stop a Japanese Tokyo
Express or will they get through to deliver the supplies
